Ilam

Ilam,a beautiful greenery place located in the Mechi zone of eastern development region of Nepal.It is known as "Queen of Hills" surrounded by green tea garden.It is very popular tourist destination as foreign and they love to call Illam as a 'heaven on earth.'Local people are also attracted to lush green tea garden,view of Himal and fresh environment of Illam.Illam cover an area of 1,703 sq.km and population was 290,254 according to the census of 2011.Mostly Rai,limbu and Nepali settle there.Illam is the district headquarters and at a distance of 600 km from kathmandu.We can get the bus via Illam from the New Bus park of kathmandu.It is the important places for the researchers who come to study about the rare birds and Red panda.The word Ilam originated from the limbu language where 'Il' means twisted and 'lam' means road.Green tea of Ilam is famous all over the world.It is exported to many parts of Europe.88% of the population are engaged in agriculture in Ilam.It is also the main town in Mechi zone.It is famous for tea production,natural scenery etc.In Ilam bazar,home stays with good food facilities are also available.The best season to visit this place is october or Novenber.

Kanyam :

A very attractive place situated in the Ilam district at a height of 6,000 ft above sea level.It is very near to mountain Kanchanjanga.Tea garden of kanyam consists of approximately 240 hectares.It is a popular palce for picnic spot for local people mostly in winter season.5,940 people settled there in the census of 1991.It is also famous for Tea garden anu natural sceneries.

Antu danda :

Antu danda is also located in Illam district of Mechi zone.It is also known as Shree Antu in Illam.It is abeautiful hillock at an altitude of 1,977 m above the sea level.In 1991 Nepal census,the population was 4,452.It is famous to view sunrise.It is 3 hrs drive from Illam bazar.

Sandakpur :

It is the highest place of Ilam situated at an altitude of 3,636 m from the sea level.The view of Mt.Everest and Mt.Kanchanganja is the main attraction for the tourists.The origin of famous Kakai river flows from here.Different species of Rhododendron are also found here.The rare animals like Red panda,musk deer are also found here.We can observe the view of more than the 60 mountains.Darjeling, a beautiful place which is also just 42 km from here.

                                                           Mustang

It is one of the most beautiful districts  and  also known as desert of Nepal.In an ancient period,it is the himalayam kingdom situated at the top of kaligandaki river.The area covered by it is 3,573 sq.km.According to the census of 2011 AD total population was 13,452.It is located in the Dhaulagiri zone of western region of Nepal.Some rare animals like kasturi,wild boar,ghoral,snow leopard..,etc and birds like danphe,kaliz,munal etc are found there.People in the Mustang are either Thakalis,Gurung and mostly are Tibetan.The main centre of Mustang is Jomsom which is only 8 km south away from kagbeni,had an airport since many years ago.Kaligandaki river is the main hydrographic  feature of Mustang district.

 

Kagbeni :

Kagbeni is a small and peacefull village located in the valley of gandaki river in Mustang district.It is a village development committe of Dhaulagiri zone of northern Nepal.The impressive mountains,grennery trees,interesting monasteries,Tibetan culture are the aatractive sources of this place.Around 1200 people were settled there in the census of 1991.

Muktinath temple:

Like pashupatinath of kathmandu.Muktinath is one of the most sacred placses for both Hindus and Buddhists.It is located in Muktinath valley at an altitude of 3,710 metres.It is  a small but contains a human sized golden statue of God Vishnu.It is the ancient temples of God Vaishnav and Vishnu.The shrine of Muktinath is considered as one of the most sacred places of eight and other seven are Srimushnam,Triupati,Srirangam,Thotadri,Pushkar,Badrinath and Naimisharanya.Hindus calls the temple as Mukti kshetra and Buddhists calls as Chumming Gyasta which means 'Hundred Waters'.Many worhippers come here to worship the lord Vishnu.

Jomsom :

Jomsom,a town currently known as Dzongsam or New Fort located at an altitude of 2800 m in Mustang district.It is the districts headquarters so it is commercial centre with government officials and rubbing shoulders along with local residents of the region.Jomsom is surrounded by black and dry mountains and kali gandaki river.It is the gateway to upper Mustang i.e 'kingdom' within the Hindu kingdom of Nepal.This place is famous for delicious apples.Mpre than 50,000 visitors arrived here in a year.An airport is located here so it is served by 9-15 flights a day depending on the weather conditions.

                                             Pokhara

Pokhara is the beautiful place of Nepal which is located in the mid western region having an area of 55.22 square km.It is one of the crowded city with 264,991 inhabitants.It is located 200 km west of kathmandu,a capital city of Nepal.It lies in kaski districf of Gandaki zone.The religions mostly followed in this place are hinduism and Buddhism.There are more attractive places in pokhara that sets our mind in relax.Some of them are Phewa lake.Sarangkot,Mahendra caves,International muesuem,Bindya basini temple,mountain views,Devi's fall(Paatale chagoo) and other so many places.pokhara receives maximum rainfall than other palces in Nepal.Pokhar is full of greenery.

Phewa lake:

It is the second largest freshwater lake in Nepal.It is located in lakeside of pokhara valley.We can take enjoy in phewa lake by boat.It's maximum length and width are 4 km and 2 km respectively.It's maximum depth is 24 m.In the middle of lake we can find a temple called Taalbaraahi temple where people worship there.
We can see the reflection of mountains like Annapurna,Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchre in the lake.

Sarangkot :

It is a small village having population of 1,010 located in kaski district with an altitude of 1600 m.It is the place where tourists mostly attracted.We can see the views of many mountains.It is located on the topmots peak where we can see the sun rises and sun sets clearly.It is the suitable places for paragliding.

Mahendra caves :

We can see the Mahendra caves at the north of pokhara valley.It is close to the seti river.Mahendra cave contains stalactites and stalagmites.It is the attracting places for tourists.Transportation is easily available from the main town of pokhara to reach this cave.

Davi's fall(Paatale chaago) :

It is the attractive and famous waterfall of pokhara and locally it is known as paatale chaago.The water comes from the phewa lake and travels through a natural tunnel prior.It is believed that a swiss tourist named as David swept away while swimming in phewa lake.and she was helpless and never returned from the tunnel so,it is named as Davi's fall.It is the most amazing and attractive places of Nepal.

Bindya basini temple :

It is the most famous Hindus religious temple.It is located on the way to sarangkotThe views of Machapuchre and Annapurna are seen from here.This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga.Goddess Durga appears in the form of saligram and this temple was established in 1845 b.s.It is a white pagoda style situated in the north of pokhara.People sacrifies animals during festivals.
