                                                           Mustang

It is one of the most beautiful districts  and  also known as desert of Nepal.In an ancient period,it is the himalayam kingdom situated at the top of kaligandaki river.The area covered by it is 3,573 sq.km.According to the census of 2011 AD total population was 13,452.It is located in the Dhaulagiri zone of western region of Nepal.Some rare animals like kasturi,wild boar,ghoral,snow leopard..,etc and birds like danphe,kaliz,munal etc are found there.People in the Mustang are either Thakalis,Gurung and mostly are Tibetan.The main centre of Mustang is Jomsom which is only 8 km south away from kagbeni,had an airport since many years ago.Kaligandaki river is the main hydrographic  feature of Mustang district.



 

Kagbeni :

Kagbeni is a small and peacefull village located in the valley of gandaki river in Mustang district.It is a village development committe of Dhaulagiri zone of northern Nepal.The impressive mountains,grennery trees,interesting monasteries,Tibetan culture are the aatractive sources of this place.Around 1200 people were settled there in the census of 1991.





Muktinath temple:

Like pashupatinath of kathmandu.Muktinath is one of the most sacred placses for both Hindus and Buddhists.It is located in Muktinath valley at an altitude of 3,710 metres.It is  a small but contains a human sized golden statue of God Vishnu.It is the ancient temples of God Vaishnav and Vishnu.The shrine of Muktinath is considered as one of the most sacred places of eight and other seven are Srimushnam,Triupati,Srirangam,Thotadri,Pushkar,Badrinath and Naimisharanya.Hindus calls the temple as Mukti kshetra and Buddhists calls as Chumming Gyasta which means 'Hundred Waters'.Many worhippers come here to worship the lord Vishnu.





Jomsom :

Jomsom,a town currently known as Dzongsam or New Fort located at an altitude of 2800 m in Mustang district.It is the districts headquarters so it is commercial centre with government officials and rubbing shoulders along with local residents of the region.Jomsom is surrounded by black and dry mountains and kali gandaki river.It is the gateway to upper Mustang i.e 'kingdom' within the Hindu kingdom of Nepal.This place is famous for delicious apples.Mpre than 50,000 visitors arrived here in a year.An airport is located here so it is served by 9-15 flights a day depending on the weather conditions.
